So we finally get our baby to sleep through the night and now our poor son is “enjoying” a lot of those magical middle of the night hours. After months of sleeplessness, one’s mind can start to go to scary places. There is the obvious insomniac run-through of everything that needs to be done the next day and wondering if I forgot to do such-and-such, but lately my thoughts have been more of the “Where can I get Ambien on the black market at this hour? And what would be the appropriate dosage for my son?” variety. To keep myself on a sane track, I take to books. This lifestyle is amazing for my reading career. If only it was a financially compensated profession…in any case, my latest idea for wise use of these hours, after talking with numerous moms of young kids who are also rockin’ out the early hours–should we be scheduling playdates during this time?! Obviously, outdoor water play would probably be out at 1am, due to the dark and chillier temps, but maybe a good make-your-own-turkey craft time or fun free-play?? I say this deserves some serious consideration…
