We tried. And tried. And then tried some more. Despite our hot pursuit, the perfect Christmas picture with our children by the tree has again eluded us. The set up was gorgeous–my husband got out the blinding spotlight, we got the Christmas outfits on, and we shoved both children under the tree (this was our creative design to hide our son’s cast this year). After about 116 takes in which we definitively verified that it is impossible to get two children to look at the camera at the same time, my daughter puked all over herself and the floor. After we got her cleaned up, my son started to smear brown goo all over his face and clothing. This looked suspiciously like poop, but actually resulted from the candy I bribed him with to stay under the tree (I know, serious parenting skills in action here). At this point, Mommy yelled “Oh screw it!” and stomped off. So please view our annual pic with extreme grace. In fact, it may be best to just squint your eyes shut and creatively picture a happy family scene in your mind…
